Liverpool, 25th September, 1918

I beg to report that Messrs Worms, the receivers of the coal cargo at Bordeaux, notwithstanding my strong protests, discharged from the tween decks the whole of the 104 tons of surplus bunkers which you gave me, and instead thereof, have put into my bunkers a quantity of coal from their cargo which they stated was equal to the quantity they had taken from the tween decks. I strongly protested against all this, and I carefully measured up the hunkers before Messrs Worms put their coal into it, and I am at least 25 tons short of the quantity I should have. No doubt you will recover from Messrs Worms the c.i.f. value of the 25 tons in question.

Francis F. Hay,
Master
