Gentlemen,
In reply to your letter of the 15th March, I am directed by the Shipping Controller to inform you that under the Transfer Restrictions Acts, the transfer of British vessels to foreign owners or to foreign controlled Companies is prohibited.
With reference to negotiations for the sale of non-British ships it is necessary upon obtaining offers of specific vessels to submit full particulars to this Department.
A copy of the recent Order in Council to which you refer is enclosed.
