Dear Sirs,
We are in possession of your valued respects of the 5th Inst, contents of which are noted, best thanks.
We beg to advise you that The Humber Coal Exporters' and Shippers' Association as well as the Chambers of Commerce and Shipping have already made strong representations to the President of the Board of Trade, the Secretary of the Coal Exports' Committee and the Secretary of the War. Trade Department with regard to the granting of licenses for the export of coal from the Humber Ports to Neutral Countries and the attention of the Members of Parliament has also been called to the matter.
We are pleased to inform you that the Members of Parliament have promised to assist in any way they can to obtain equality of treatment with Northumberland and Fifeshire districts and the Coal Exports' Committee also promise to bear in mind the paints, to which their attention has been called, and state they are modifying their policy to meet the varying conditions We must however mention that the license troubles still continue to damp all business ardour as applications for licenses are not met with such ready response as we consider necessary, in consequence of which, loading turns become disorganised as a result of the excessive delays, in fact, business is absolutely unworkable.
All Humber Shippers suffer the same inconveniences and we think there is every excuse for grumbling as the present state of affairs is very disappointing.
We remain, Dear Sirs,

Yours truly,

[A. Robinson]
