Worms & C° Grimsby, 22nd July 1919
W. Torry Esq.
Mrs Worms & C° Newcastle

Dear Mr Torry,
I am in receipt of your favour of the 21st inst. and note contents best thanks.
I regret we have no records which will fix the date when this office was established but I find that the Great Central Railway Official Album gives the date as 1855.
The paragraph in the Album reads as under:
"The records of the eminent firm of Worms & C° form a most significant chapter in the economic history of Grimsby as in a great coal shipping port. A glance thereat shows that it was in 1855 that the late Mr Henry Josse, acting as agent for the great House of Hypolite Worms, commenced his commercial operations in the port and from that period the name of Worms has become a tower of strength in Cardiff, Newport, Swansea, Newcastle, Sunderland, Hartlepool, Hull, Grimsby and Goole."
I consider that the above information may be accepted as authentic and I shall be obliged if you would advise Mr Worms accordingly.
Trusting you are well, with kindest regards.
Yours sincerely.
