Messrs Worms & Co., Paris

Dear Sirs,
South African business. We are this morning in receipt of your letter of the 29th ult. in which you ask us to give you the latest positions of the s.s. "Unbe Mendi" and "Urko Mendi", as the Messageries Co. are anxious that these vessels should not arrive at Diego Suarez together.
We have communicated with the owners, who inform us that the s.s. "Unbe Mendi" arrived at Delagoa Bay on the 29th ult. so that she has presumably by this time sailed for Diego Suarez with her cargo, and we will at once telegraph you when we have received cabled advices to this effect from our Branch Office at Lourenco Marques.
With regard to the s.s. "Urko Mendi", this steamer left Sagunto on the 5th ult. for Durban for orders; she is now due at that Port, but owners have not yet heard of her arrival. We do not anticipate that the s.s. "Urko Mendi" will be ready to load at Delagoa Bay before the middle of this month at soonest.
We regret that we have still been unable to secure any offers of tonnage for Colombo, and learn privately that it is doubtful whether licences would be granted for this destination, as considerable stocks of Indian Coal are available for bunkering purposes.
We are, dear Sirs,
Yours faithfully,

For Mann, George & Co. Limited,
[Signature illisible]
Managing director
