Robert Mackill & C°
Steam Ship Owners and Brokers 53, Bothwell Street

Glasgow, 13th Sept. 1916
Messrs. Worms & Co. Paris

Dear Sirs,
We had this pleasure yesterday, and have to acknowledge receipt of your favour of the 8th. inst., contents of which have our best attention.
We thank you for the copies of Authorisation Notes for the quantities passed by the Bureau des Charbons for the latter quarter of the year to your goodselves, and we are making application for the necessary Licenses in accordance with same. We are explaining to the Committee the mistakes, and trust they will see their way to recommend our applications. As regards the Bassens Gunpowder Works order, we shall be glad if you can inform us what Coals this Work previously used. Since the present Authorisation Notes have come to hand the Committee have been comparing these with the previous ones, and are not sanctioning any increases unless they can obtain a satisfactory reason why such an increase should be granted. This is the reason for our asking the information regarding the Bassens Work in case the Committee should demand same.
With reference to the Marseilles quantity, we are in touch with Messrs. Gow, Harrison & C°, and are asking them to make their application out for 2.500 tons of Ell Coal, and not for Ell Coal and Trebles as per the Authorisation Note.
We trust there will be no trouble over the Licensee, and will advise you when these come to hand.
We are, dear Sirs,
Yours faithfully,

[Signature illisible]
