Dear Sirs,
Boleo Co.
We confirm our conversation by telephone today when we told you we had heard from your Cardiff House that they had received an intimation from their Coke factors that their supplies were being gradually allocated elsewhere so that perhaps it would be advisable to apply for a licence now for the next shipment to the Boleo Co.
In these circumstances we had no hesitation in saying we thought it would be very advisable to do so and that it would be further advantageous if licences both for the steamer & the coke were applied for together.
You said you quite approved of this and as arranged we have now seen Mr. Howard Houlder to explain the position but he seems a little indisposed to act before communicating with the Boleo Co. which however he has promised to do at once and at the same time he is also communicating with Glasgow so he hopes to hear from both of them presently whether a boat can be nominated for end of August or early September.
We told Mr. Houlder that large boats are very difficult to get licences for and suggested that if a 5.000 tonner came along it might be possible to arrange that quantity perhaps between the two ports of Cardiff & Glasgow.
We will let you know in due course when anything further transpires in the matter.
We are, dear Sirs,
Yours truly,

James Burness & Sons
