Dear Sirs,
Benzine supplied to Mr. McLean for aviation
We enclose current account, with all vouchers, shewing an amount still owing to you by Mr. McLean for Benzine supplied to him in the early part of the year, effected in Egypt and The Sudan, of £.38.423. We had held the account back as we were hoping to strike a balance by disposing of some Castor Oil which Mr. McLean left on our hands (it is his property), but the outbreak of war has upset this arrangement, and it is doubtful if we shall now find any buyers for so large a quantity of this article. The best thing to be done is to settle now with Mr. McLean, and tell him we will sell the Castor Oil for his account later on when circumstances favour our doing so, and we will then credit him with the proceeds, or else we are willing to return the Castor Oil to him in England - at his expense of course.
Awaiting the favour of your reply,
We are, dear Sirs,
Yours faithfully,
