My dear Mr. Goudchaux,
I am greatly indebted to you for your very kind letter of sympathy in the great loss we have sustained in the death of my father. He had, as you say, lived to a good old age, and I am thankful to think his long life was on the whole a very happy one, and he passed away without pain and like a little child falling asleep.
Ely Court, his home, and which I have no doubt you remember well, has been a very sad home for some time now, for not only has my father passed away, but Miss Wallée, my brother widow, is lying there at [Deallin] door and I fear another of our family links will very soon be broken.
Thanking you sincerely for your kind expressions.
Believe me,
Yours sincerely

Geo J. Insole.
