50 years of shipbuilding on the banks of the Seine - the ACSM & their garden city - 1917-1972

This study is devoted to the history of the Ateliers & Chantiers de la Seine-Maritime from their foundation in 1916-1917 until their merger with the Chantiers de La Ciotat in 1966, then their final closure on 31 December 1972. It also endeavours to retrace the life of the garden city to which the ACSM gave birth. It is based on an analysis of all the archive collections relating to shipbuilding and the urbanisation of the city of Le Trait, which Worms & Cie has previously conserved, and of which Phoramm Sàrl now ensures the valorisation. This documentation was supplemented by data collected at the National Archives and the Departmental Archives in France, as well as by information provided by newspaper articles, etc.
Christian Lebailly, historian of the Maison Worms, is the publication manager of the website www.wormsetcie.com. Mathieu Bidaux, doctor in contemporary history, joined Phoramm Sàrl in 2020; he is the author (in particular) of a biography on André Marie (1897-1974), statesman, MP for the Seine-Maritime.
